VH1 and rapper/actress Queen Latifah’s are gearing up for a new MOVIE and sitcom for the Network’s line-up called “Single Ladies”. The Queen’s Flavor Unit Entertainment Company is looking to flip a modern script of Latifah’s ’90s sitcom.
The movie and series will premiere in July 2011 and plan to follow characters Val (Stacey Dash), Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy), and April (Charity Shea) — three best friends living in Atlanta and their philosophies on sex and relationships.
The film version of the comedy-drama went into production over the summer. Guest appearances by Lauren London, Eve, Common, Chilli, and Kim Porter are supposed “highlights” to the concept’s pitch.
VH1 describes the TV show as “ a comedic drama about a Val, Keisha, and April – three best friends with different philosophies on sex and relationships. Val is an ambitious aspiring fashion mogul who wants to find a true partner. Keisha, on the other hand, is a former video dancer just looking for a rich man to keep her in style. April has supposedly found the perfect man and the perfect marriage – but is learning that marriage isn’t necessarily a happy ending. Single Ladies is a modern, sexy series set in the world of Atlanta fashion, music, and celebrity that will constantly explore which woman has the right approach to relationships.”
Why the f!@# is VH-1 NOW trying to reinvent the f!@#ing wheel? AND it appears that some of the character’s backgrounds are loosely imitations of the actual “stars” real life dramas. While Management (if she remembers) will sneak a peek occasionally at the movie/series, her ONLY hope is for Beyonce’s “Put A Ring On It” NOT being selected as the show’s theme song.
